A wonderful time in Manchester. It was a treat to have workshops with Marc Holmes, Suhita Shirodkar, Veronica Lawlor and Stephanie Bower. Such enthusiastic, talented artists and so generous with their knowledge. Also wonderful to meet up with my Sketchbook Skool internet friends.
Bockingford 140lb hot press. Being smooth, it is great for pen but is not so good for watercolour wash effects. However, it allows vibrant colours and it didn’t buckle much when wet.
Testing the different types of watercolour paper that came in the Ken Bromley sample pack. This one is the 140lb Bockingford cold press. I enjoyed it: the colours are bright and sparky, it took the pen happily and coped with a bit of rubbing and lifting out. It cockled slightly while wet, which was slightly disconcerting while I was painting, but it has dried flat. It is not too expensive and I would be pleased to use it again.
